Using Single Blooms

There are lots of imaginative ways to use single orchid blooms. One is to place two or three
flowers in a shallow bowl that is half full of water. Your bowl full of orchids will look
great and last for weeks. For added interest, use a larger bowl and place a candle in the
middle of the orchids. If your guest bathroom has a second sink, fill it with water and float
a handful of blossoms. The effect is stunning.
You can also get creative. Since every individual bloom that comes from Gallup & Stribling is
shipped with its own water tube, the flower doesn't need to be placed in water to stay fresh.
Combine blooms with other types of plantsin a basket filled with foliage, for example. Use
your imaginationorchids look great anywhere and everywhere.

Design Tips
Acrylic Compote
Cymbidium orchid blossoms are attractively displayed using a compote. Give a fresh cut to
the blossom stem and place on edge of container, be sure to check water level to make sure
the stems are in the water and the orchid blossom directly above. The use of foilage can
also be added to complete the design. Your cymbidium orchids will be a simply elegant statement!
Glass Bubble Bowl
First select the size of bubble bowl to use for your cymbidium blossom design. A six to eight
inch is great to display several orchid blooms. Fill base of container with water not too deep,
decorative stones or shells should be added also at this time. Give a fresh cut to the blossom
stem and place into bowl, be sure the stems are in the water. The use of foilage can be added
also, but do not over power the beauty of the orchid. A simple decorative ribbon can be tied
over the bowl to compliment your décor or party theme. This is a wonderful centerpiece or gift!
Vase Design
Standard Cymbidium or Mini Cymbidium Spikes will add a very dramatic touch to any surrounding.
The container will depend on your spike or stem count, choose accordingly. Please note the
standard or larger cymbidium spike tends to be top heavy, lighter weight vases can be used if
decorative stones or pebbles are added. Arrange in a fashion tailored to your placement. Be sure
to give the stem a fresh cut before placement into the water. Remember if you have cut the stems
to short, remove bottom blossom(s) and float in a bowl for another dramatic touch!
